Denis Darzacq

On one extreme of the spectrum we have Denis Darzacq, whose entire style relies on extremely fast shutter speeds to capture these still, motionless compositions. His photographs aren't digitally enhanced so these are real dancers and gymnasts who pose for him and he takes their photograph whilst they are in midair, giving the impression they are floating or suspended in the air.

If he didn't use a light-speed like shutter speed, the subjects would appear blurred and there would be trails where the subjects has been. Therefore the photograph wouldn't be as powerful and it kinda defeats the purpose. I've also included a clip, demonstrating his technique and showing you the relationship he has with his subjects....

I really like his portfolios, especially the set called Hyper. He based it within a supermarkets or a shop and what really appeals to me is the fact that it is very idiosyncratic. In the street you might expect to see these kinds of street performers however when done in a supermarket it becomes quite surreal, which I think is what he was aiming for.
