Rut Blees Luxemburg

On the completely opposite end of the scale to Rouse, Jenkins and Darzacq is Rut Blees Luxemburg. She is a German photographer who specialises in night time photography therefore in order to have a decent exposure, the shutter speed is very slow.

To avoid camera shake and unwanted blur a tripod is used. Slow shutter speeds are used because at night there isn't much available natural light therefore to ensure the photograph isn't underexposed, slow shutter speeds are used. The slow shutter speeds can also be used to make light trails, however that isn't very much part of her style.

I do like her photographs because I find them strangely thought-provoking. Her use of the very warm artificial light, I am assuming from street lights etc. reflects well on her subjects. I'm tempted to say that white balance may have something to do with it, making it very deliberate and I think it works well.
